Linguistically,Sholat means :
1.Prayer and praises
2.To pray for someone
for example.the angels do shalat to prophet Muhammad SAW.This means the angels pray for him.
3.To grant mercy.
For example, Allah does sholat to prophet Muhamaad SAW This means Allah grants the Prophet SAW His Mercy.
Terminologically, or in the context of fiqh,shalat is an act of worship that is opened by Takbiratul ihram and closed by salam.Every word and movement of shalat must be the same as the one exemplified by Rasullullah SAW,be it its conditions, pillars or sunnah.So,we cannot reduce or add anything to the words and movements of it.otherwise our sholat will be nullified.
